Texas Longhorns’ starting right tackle announced his retirement for the upcoming season.
The Texas Longhorns are expected to return the majority of the offense that was ranked fifth in total offense and third in scoring offense in the Big 12, despite losing Roschon Johnson and Bijan Robinson.
On Tuesday, Christian Jones, the starting right tackle, announced that he would be returning for a sixth year with the team.
Jones wrote on Instagram, “Dear Longhorn Nation. Thank you for all the moments.” These past five years have made me a better person, colleague and individual. We still have much work to do. To conclude it in the best way possible, I will be returning next season.
The Longhorns are now returning their whole starting offensive line, including freshman Kelvin Banks as left tackle and sophomores Hayden Connor, Jake Majors, and Cole Hutson, at center and left guard, respectively.
Devon Campbell and Cameron Williams, two outstanding freshmen, will play important roles in 2023. Other freshmen Malik Agbo and Net Umeozulu should also be part of the rotation.
The 2023 Longhorns class includes guards Andre Cojoe, Jaydon Chatman and tackles Payton Killand, Connor Stroh and Trevor Goosby.
