Toronto Maple Leafs
Auston Matthews was unable to play Wednesday for the Maple Leafs against the Nashville Predators due to an undisclosed injury.
Matthews was not able to practice Tuesday, but he did take part in an optional morning skating session.
Sheldon Keefe, Toronto’s coach said that he would only call him day-to-day. He’s not far off, he’s still out there working hard and all that. He’s getting better every day, so we will see his progress tomorrow against the Detroit Red Wings.
Matthews played his last game Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers, scoring a goal with four shots and putting in 17:29 minutes of ice.
Keefe stated that the injury did not occur against Flyers, but that it had been “lingering for awhile.”
Matthews is on a 5-game streak with points (three goals and four assists), and now has 47 points in 41 games (20 goals, 27 assist). This was his first missed game of the season.

Kane had been on the ice at least 20 minutes before practice began, but he left Wednesday morning. Kane has missed two of the last games. This was Kane’s first missed game because of injury since his fractured clavicle on February 24, 2015. He also missed most of the regular season due to that incident.

New York Rangers
Chris Kreider Will not be playing for the Rangers in the Dallas Stars game on Thursday (7:05 p.m. ET; MSG. BSSW. ESPN+. SN NOW.
In the third period, the forward was ejected by the Minnesota Wild in a shootout 4-3 win. In 42 games, he has scored 30 goals and 11 assists.
Gerard Gallant, New York’s coach said that he does not believe the injury will last long and that Kreider would be evaluated in a couple of days.
Alexis Lafreniere Kreider will be taking Kreider’s place at the top of the line Mika Zibanejad And Kaapo Kakko On Thursday.
Rangers won Jake Leschyshyn On Tuesday, the waivers were removed. In 22 games this season, the forward didn’t score a goal with Vegas Golden Knights. As a rookie, Leschyshyn scored six goals and four assists in 41 games.
Dallas Stars

Denis Malgin Is out of work week-to-week with an upper body injury.

Malgin was traded to the Maple Leafs Dec. 19. He has only one assist in seven Avalanche games. In 30 games, he has scored five goals and three assists.
Jared Bednar, Colorado’s coach said this Valeri NichushkinDue to ongoing issues with his ankle, he was not able to travel with the team to the two-game road game. On Tuesday, the Avalanche lost 5-4 to the Panthers. This was the seventh consecutive game that the forward had missed.
Bednar stated, “We are just letting the ankle heal.”
The Defenseman Josh Manson (lower body), rushed to Tuesday’s morning skate in an orange non-contact jersey and defenseman. Bowen Byram (lower body), has taken up skating by himself. Both have not set a timetable for their return. Ryan Boulding
