Colorado selected NexCore Group’s Sciences & Technology Business (NexCore), as master developer of a Global Center for Renewable Energy Research and Commercialization (Glo Park), located in Golden. Colorado.
Glo Park, Colorado’s most renowned energy innovation and research center is part of Governor Polis’ long-term vision to make Colorado the global leader in renewable energy. It will also be a catalyst for new technologies and innovations into the market. Glo Park will be the hub for industry, government and academia to collaborate to make the world a more sustainable, clean, renewable and equitable place. Glo Park is located within easy walking distance of U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory. This open and collaborative design gives tenants unparalleled access to NREL’s renewable sector expertise, its unique laboratory infrastructure, advanced research resources and computing capabilities. It also has a globally recognized innovation and research team.
Glo Park will be the epicenter of the world’s most innovative research in and the commercial application and development of sustainable energy and climate resilience. NexCore Science and Technology Group has secured a ground lease on 9.3 acres near NREL, Golden, Colorado. This will allow them to build the Glo Park campus, which could include multiple buildings of upto 400,000 square foot. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of 2023. It will include an outdoor amphitheater, tenant commons, ample tenant amenities and an open and collaborative design. By utilizing advanced green design technologies and building technology, the project will be able to uphold progressive standards of sustainability and well-being.
Building a network of partners is the first step to creating an innovative clean energy system. “The State of Colorado has shown its determination to be the epicenter of global climate innovation,” stated NexCore Chief Development Officer Todd Varney. This effort is strengthened by the presence of NREL and federal research investment through the Department of Energy. There’s also academic support, collaboration and support among Colorado’s universities and a global demand from the private sector for these innovative people. The Glo Park is located between Historic Camp George West’s NREL campus, Pleasant View Community Park, Historic Camp George West. It will feature nearly 40 acres open space and nature trails. There are also multi-use sport fields and recreational facilities that offer views over Colorado’s beautiful mountain ranges. It will serve as an example of flexibility and adaptability, and be used to demonstrate research breakthroughs and commercial applications that can transform the energy sector. The campus will be connected by sky bridges and outdoor plazas as well as a network trail and sidewalks.
It is state-of the-art and uses smart and sustainable building technologies. This will provide a facility for NREL tenant tenants to conduct research or apply commercially.
